Raise money for your school with a writing contest and publication of a customized Mockingbird Square Scholastic Series© Anthology of short stories and poems by your students.

Here’s how it works:

    ·
  • Students submit poems and short stories (not to exceed 300 words).

  • ·
  • Your English Department faculty chooses 35-40 winning entries, and e-mails them as a single document (Word or RTF) to us at MockingbirdSq@aol.com along with acknowledgements, dedication, quote page, or any other text you would like to include in the book.

  • ·
  • You will create and e-mail a jpg for the front cover, and text to appear on the front and back cover.

  • ·
  • When the book has been formatted, you will receive a PDF for review, and any necessary changes will be made at that time.

  • ·
  • Upon approval of the PDF, you will receive a printed galley for review, with another opportunity to make final changes.

  • ·
  • If you submit your information by February 1st, you’ll have your books by May 15th.

  • ·
  • Your school’s cost per copy is $7, and the book’s retail price is $14 (with special exceptions for longer books), yielding your school a 50% profit.

  • ·
  • Minimum order is 50 copies.

Mockingbird Square’s affiliation with Big Table Publishing Company guarantees a high-quality book with the prestigious Big Table imprint. For over ten years Big Table has been publishing novels, memoirs, poetry chapbooks, and short story collections by authors from all over the country.

Every May, Mockingbird Square chooses the best anthology among those we’ve published, and the winning school will receive a certificate of excellence and ten additional copies of their book.

Inclusion in a published anthology by a reputable publisher provides
an impressive credential for your students when they apply to colleges!
